RESILIENT DESIGN WORK

we have tackled sea level rise within our professional work, understanding that each site offers unique challenges that demand creative and tailored approaches.

Having tackled preservation, new construction, and temporary design work along Boston’s waterfront, we have considered the role of resilient design through numerous lenses. While the technical requirements are often the most challenging aspect - engineering, permitting, life-safety, envelope design - we also see the importance of telling story of resilience to those who will occupy the spaces.

By acknowledging the relationships between humans and water - both the threats and the benefits - we can encourage more mindful stewardship of our built and natural environments, giving a language and understanding through which to facilitate future advocacy.
