As designLAB celebrates our 15th year and we look toward 2022, we are pleased to share several exciting and meaningful firm milestones.

First, we are thrilled to announce that designLAB is now a women-owned firm! Our ownership shift establishes expanded roles for myself and fellow partners Sam Batchelor and Ben Youtz, with Kelly Haigh serving as our new President. We are fortunate to have an incredibly talented team of Designers and Architects in our studio, and are eager to enter this new chapter with a continued commitment to innovation, design, and the creation of a more beautiful and just built environment.

Additionally, designLAB is committed to transparency, equity, and social justice, as demonstrated by our new Just Label. This program, administered through the International Living Futures Institute, enables us to reflect upon our practice with a deeper understanding of its impact on our team, our communities, and our environment. We embarked on this process to further our commitment to social justice initiatives, underscoring the values we seek to instill in our work through Critical Stewardship.

Finally, we wish to re-introduce you to designLAB through a new website that captures our refreshed perspective on past and current work. We invite you to have a look, see what we’ve been up to, and to celebrate the extraordinary impacts that have been made by the clients and communities we serve.

We are grateful for the opportunity to build upon the legacy and work of the past fifteen years, and for the vision of Founder Bob Miklos. As Partner Emeritus, he will continue his commitment to designLAB through his expanded research and initiatives as a national leader in coastal resiliency and historic preservation.
